What would happen if a store refused to sell people cigarettes?
And I'm not talking about underage teens, I'm talking about adult smokers. What if someone working in a shop refused to sell them cigarettes due to the health risks and the problems it causes to their lungs? It sounds like a sensible idea to me since cigarettes are deadly and gross, but what would happen to the shop?

A store is not required by law to sell cigarettes. If an individual employee of a store that sells cigarettes decides not to, for any reason, then they will be fired.
Jeff, I suggest you take a few more classes. They can choose not to sell the cigarettes, even if they carry them, unless it's for discriminatory purposes against a protected class. So the customer would have no basis for any kind of action. The presence or absence of a sign has no legal consequences.
