Cigarette Waste

What substance in cigarettes may make you feel a little light headed and tired right away?
Nicotine's supposed to be a stimulant but a cigarette has the opposite effect on me most of the times. I was theorizing it might be the carbon monoxide robbing you of your oxygen flow in the brain, but a friend made fun of me saying it may be a million other substances that are in there:P.

It is the carbon monoxide (CO) inhaled by the smoker. The carbon monoxide, upon entering the lungs, begins to rob the body of oxygen in an attempt to become the more stable compound carbon dioxide (CO2). It does this by forcing a split in any atmospheric oxygen molecules it comes in contact with (usually O or O2) Since neither CO or CO2 are usable by the human body - in fact CO2 is the waste exhaled by the lungs normally - the body ends up with fewer usable oxygen molecules to oxygenate the blood thus resulting in less oxygenated blood reaching the brain and in turn reducing brain activity. This reduction in brain activity is what gives you the light-headed and tired feeling.

This is in fact the same principal behind Carbon Monoxide Poisoning.
