Is it legal to refuse to serve someone cigarettes because they look under 25?
I was in a shop the other day when a lady who was clearly over 18 was refused cigarettes because she didnt look over 25.
My question is, is this legal? The law states you have to be 18 to buy cigarettes in the UK, not 25, so i dont see how this can be legal and wonder whether it can be construed as discrimination based on how someone looks.
Woould love to know what people think about this.

First of all, this is standard practice. Most shops require ID is a person looks under 25. It is to protect the shop from their employees making an error.
Secondly, they do not have to sell to you at ALL if they don't want to, so it is perfectly legal.
Since discrimination based on looks is not illegal in any way, whether this constitutes it is irrelevant.
